Getting stuck at the zoo

The zoo was busy (see previous post) & we ended up parking at the bottom of a teeny hill covered in wet slippery grass. I said jokingly to wife 'if it rains today we're stuck here'.

Naturally it rained 😊

I was right, like shit to a blanket!

Welsh mountain zoo

Who'da thunked it would be so busy? 30th October, cold & windy and there are loads of people here. 20 mins before the sea lion show and most of the good spots have been filled ☺

Shandy bass!

Ultra retro. We've been to Rhos on Sea for fish & chips tonight, wife went to get them and weeman & I went to the spar over the road to get some drinks. Despite them having a huge selection of pop it was mostly crap. But behold, hiding in among the diet cola & KA Fruit punch was this gem from the 80's. Shandy Bass, made with real Bass beer. awesome.

Wearable tech

Gear live arrived this week, not really sure of what to do with it yet! It's an interesting thing though it feels nice & the screen is half decent looking.

I'm going to stick on a layer of supernatural hybrid over the weekend. Oh the joys!

New flash trigger

Well I say flash trigger, what I actually mean is a box full of bits that need soldering together and an arduino uno to "do the math"
Awesome sauce!
Look out for balloons bursting, bulbs being shot, drops dripping over the coming weeks

still loving it

a week of shaves later and its still as impressive. traditional 1 modern 0

Old skool

I dislike shaving, for months I've been trying to find a new solution to the daily face ache.  I used to use a multi blade cartridge one, I've tried em all, sensor excel, mach 3, fusion, sword protector etc. I've even tried an electric one and I hate them all.

They're all as bad as each other the adverts promise a baby smooth finish and a shave as comfortable as oral sex, they all deliver a dry face with a sand paper rough finish and about as much comfort as getting punched in the face.

My issues are little nic cuts, yanked hairs, dried skin & the price of consumables - blades foam/gel/oil etc.

I stumbled upon a website extolling the virtues of the "traditional" safety razor & I've been looking into them for a while. With something touchable like a razor I wanted to get a feel of it before choosing one so got one from a shop in Manchester.

I chose a merkur with a long handle. It's pretty weighty in hand and feels lovely. I got some soft sandlewood shaving soap and a badger hair brush to slather it on with. I've only had one shave so far and it was lots better. Rather than yanking hairs the single blade cuts smoothly through. It's different to "normal" shaving, takes slightly longer & good technique demands you shave in a structured way.

I'm sure this won't be the last time I write about it,  but so far so good :-)

the mind boggles

a discarded stocking. its partner was in an adjoining space (i assume it was its partner, i didn't check / verify)

who tosses a stocking away in a train station car park? I mean c'mon! sometimes some stuff blows out of the car when you open the door, or a receipt may fall out of your pocket when you're getting something else out. But a stocking? Really!

was it tossed after a moment of passion in a parked car?

was it a hooker removing it after a client had sullied it?

was it a traveller who was weary of them & the attention they attracted?

whoever it was, why didn't you put it in the bin? or take it home, or give it to your lover as a keepsake!

like i say, the mind boggles......

new toys

I got a couple of new toys this week.

Work have "upgraded" the fleet of blackberry devices to either the Z10 or Q5. I chose the Z10 (it has a bigger screen & better camera) so far, I'm not impressed. Its easy to see why they RIM/Blackberry whoever they are are teetering on the edge of financial oblivion, its trying to be an android device & failing miserably. At least the last one was business & proud.

I've been looking for a yoyo for ages now, you just don't see them in shops, so I cracked and ordered one from the interwebs. As with everything in life it's now much more complicated than you remember it being. First you gotta choose what you want to do with the yoyo because every different style of yoyo play requires a different yoyo, then you gotta choose what kind of string you want, then you gotta choose how much you want to pay (i shit you not, some of em are £300+)

I chose a YOYOADDICT something, its a looping yoyo and doesn't require any special skills to play. I went for a kitty string sample pack so I can choose from a few different types of strings. I also stumbled upon some more elaborate aluminium ones on we'll see how i get on with them when they arrive :)

happy days

Shit flickr again

Yahoo clowns have made flickr even worse than it was.

Why do they keep arsing about with it? Click on a photo to make it bigger, no now it goes to the next picture, picture descriptions now can't have carriage returns in them because when you press enter it saves the text, comments are all fucked up & only the top few show, instead of them being under the picture they're at the side meaning the pictures are smaller.

I've already said I'm not renewing my pro account and looking at my friends streams over the last couple of days it seems I'm not the only one.

Like I said, bastards!

water fountain weeman

Today we've been to the posh welsh food shop on the way to Betws-Y-Coed we got all kinds of tasty goodies, sausages, bacon, breads, pies, salt, sausage rolls a right bag full! We had a picnic in slate county on the way to Harlech castle. When we got to the castle we had a good root round, up & down under & overthe ruins, its a great castle. Weeman got a foam knights helmet, sword & shield which he looks hillarious in.

We left in the morning with intentions of going to Beaumaris & Caernarfon but as ever things changed en route, we didn't end up going to Beaumaris (we're going on Friday & to goto the seafood place my dad raves about) so we headed to Caernarfon but by the time we got there it was just about to close. We went for a wander round the town instead. (80+ mph winds were whistling round the square) Weeman spotted the water feature with jumping streams, naturally we ended up playing in it & getting wet through, by the time we got back to the car we were both frozen solid!

5 windy miles away from the caravan

Let's go ride to the bridge at Rhyl I said, yes agreed weeman. 5 miles later & the bridge is closed for repairs. Still, not to worry a bike ride is always fun :-)
